We are seeking a skilled Fertilizer/Chemical Applicator to join our team at Lentz Fertilizer. As an Applicator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and accurate distribution of fertilizers and chemicals on our fields. Contributing to the overall success of our agricultural operations.
Responsibilities:
– Operate and maintain fertilizer/chemical application equipment to accurately and
evenly distribute fertilizers/chemical across designated fields.
– Collaborate with office and farm managers to understand the specific
fertilizer/chemical requirements for different crops and fields.
– Calibrate and adjust application equipment to achieve optimal application rates
and patterns.
-Monitor weather conditions and field conditions to determine the appropriate
timing for fertilizer/chemical application.
– Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations while
handling and applying fertilizers/chemicals.
-Keep accurate records of fertilization/chemical activities, including application
rates, field coverage, and equipment maintenance.
– Perform routine maintenance on application equipment, troubleshoot issues, and
make minor repairs as needed.
– Assist with other farm tasks during off-peak fertilizer application seasons.
– Participate in training sessions to stay updated on the latest equipment,
techniques, and safety practices.
Qualifications:
– High school diploma or equivalent.
– Previous experience or willingness to learn the operation of fertilizer/chemical
application equipment or have similar agricultural machinery experience is
preferred.
– Strong understanding of different types of fertilizers, chemicals, application rates,
and spreading techniques.
– Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and
troubleshooting.
– Attention to detail and accuracy in applying fertilizers/chemicals to ensure
minimal waste and environmental impact.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather conditions.
-Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions closely.
– Knowledge of safety protocols related to fertilizer handling and application.
-Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
-Class B CDL-preferred or obtain a Farm CDL. Reimbursement options available
for those interested in obtaining a Class A or B CDL.
